Patchwork Quilting & Appliqué Day
Wednesday 11th May 10am-4pm
- 45 British pounds£45
What we will do. Your tutor Angela will teach you how to make a lovely & practical patchwork quited appliqué cushion cover. Alternatively you can try the Pineapple quilt pattern. The choice is yours, youll be able to pick up the skills to see how both techniques can be utilised for quilting and patchwork It’s a straightforward workshop 7 could be a great opportunity for someone with basic sewing machine skills, to start patchwork or quilting as well as a great opportunity if you’re an experienced patch worker, to add to your repertoire. Requirements To make a three coloured cushion cover 14cm x 14cm approx piece of fabric for centre pentagon 2 x ½ meter approx for two of the coloured strips 1m approx for the constant strip 22” zip 60cm x 60cm approx piece of fabric to line the back of the patchwork panel (this will not be seen) 40cm of fabric for binding 1.4m of fabric for backing (I have used calico) 22” cushion pad or size to suit Please note all fabric quantities given are to make a 22” cushion cover. If you would like to make a smaller cover that is perfectly fine, I would not recommend making a larger cover as you may not finish it. If you are going to make the cushion cover that has the free motion flowers on it, the background was made from scraps. To give yourself a good start to the day you can cut strips of fabric in advance - I suggest you cut them to a width of 1½”/2”. You will need a free motion foot for the flower embroidery, fabric for the flowers, thread and beads. For the Log Cabin Pineapple patchwork Iyou'll need 1metre of fabric for the centres & two metres each of two other fabrics. How much you will need depends on how many colours you use & what you are making. Again it would be perfectly fine to use scraps of fabric, old bedding etc. It would be useful to have an open toe patchwork foot for this block. See requirements list for the three coloured patchwork cover for details of backing & lining fabric & zip. Equipment you will need Sewing machine, instruction book with spare sewing machine needles & foot pedal Basic sewing kit, Scissors, Pins, Hand Sewing Needles etc. Patchwork ruler 6½” x 24” approx (you can borrow mine) Rotary cutter (you can borrow mine) Patchwork foot with ¼” guide Zipper foot Pro Frixión marking pen Notebook and pen Thread Refreshments included. Please remember your lunch. Booking 50% Non-Refundable Deposit secures your place, with the balance due on arrival at the studio.
Cancellations & Refunds Bookings for the workshops are made months in advance, therefore it can be difficult for me to resell any places at short notice. Workshops require a great deal of planning, financial commitment, supplies and tools, as well as paying staff. As a result, cancellations can result in lost revenue. This will greatly impact on the business. Ideally, I don’t want either of us to be out of pocket. You can cancel your space on a workshop up to two weeks before it takes place. This two-week period allows me the necessary time to try and find someone to fill your place which I will endeavour to do through word of mouth and social media. If I can fill your space you will receive a full refund minus £5 admin fee, to deal with the process of issuing your refund and finding an alternative person to fill your space. However, please appreciate if I am unable to find someone to take your place, you will not receive a refund. I do understand that there are sometimes unavoidable situations so am happy to discuss any exceptional circumstances you may have. To cancel your place on a workshop, please provide me with a written notice via email; email@example.com. Unless I have acknowledged your request, you shouldn’t consider your request delivered! If I don’t respond within three working days, then please send a follow-up email or call me. Refunds will be made in the same way as the payment was made, ie. Payments paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card. Cancellations by Fabric Paper Scissors I am entitled to cancel any group or workshop at any time subject to the repayment of any deposit and fees received in respect of the booking which has been cancelled. In the unlikely event of a cancellation by myself or a guest tutor, I will provide a full refund within 5 days of the workshop date. My liability is only for the cost of the class. If the class is cancelled, you are liable for any costs incurred by you including materials purchased in advance, travel or accommodation.
