Service Description

Join us for a monthly session where you'll learn a variety of techniques to sculpt and form paper clay into stunning artwork. With the goal of showcasing your pieces in an exhibition. Learn a variety of techniques to bring your sculpture to life. As an artist, Christine’s intention is to make work that speaks to the quiet-voiced, the overlooked, the hidden - and says: "You are noticed, you are valued, you are loved." Christine has sculpted, in one medium or another, for most of her life. Since 2012 she has been a sculptor, figure maker, and curator. With a passion to make work that brings joy and speaks to the heart. Taking inspiration from the natural world and from folklore. Her pieces tell stories about what happens when we drop our social masks and reconnect with the Wild Dance of life. Sometimes the figures disguise themselves as animals. Occasionally they are caught in the act of transformation; part human, part beast... This in person workshop will take you through your sculpting skills towards making your own fantasy figures, limited only by your imagination. Through workshop progression Christine will guide you through every aspect of sculpting figures looking at different methods of jointing and body construction. You will make your own clay, learn about painting and finishing your piece to the very highest standard. With great care over the presentation of the finished work regarding framing or mounting as this is integral to the whole piece. Wood is a beautiful material, especially when it is well seasoned and has prominent grain, cracks or knots that some might consider ‘flaws. Christine will show us how to deliberately work with these natural occurrences, often enhancing and drawing attention to them by the addition of gold leaf. This course is a commitment but by then end Christine guarantees that you will have the skills and knowledge necessary to make your own professional looking art doll or figure, and the confidence to exhibit your work. This workshop is aimed at those who wish to push their creativity to the next level. Each session is booked individually. Exhibition details will be agreed mutually at a later date. All materials are included in this workshop, but as we progress there may be tools and equipment you wish to purchase to continue your sculpting journey at home. Please bring an apron, or studio shirt to protect your clothes. Please remember your lunch, refreshments and cake are included.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations & Refunds Bookings for the workshops are made months in advance, therefore it can be difficult for me to resell any places at short notice. Workshops require a great deal of planning, financial commitment, supplies and tools, as well as paying staff. As a result, cancellations can result in lost revenue. This will greatly impact on the business. Ideally, I don’t want either of us to be out of pocket. You can cancel your space on a workshop up to two weeks before it takes place. This two-week period allows me the necessary time to try and find someone to fill your place which I will endeavour to do through word of mouth and social media. If I can fill your space you will receive a full refund minus £10 admin fee, to deal with the process of issuing your refund and finding an alternative person to fill your space. However, please appreciate if I am unable to find someone to take your place, you will not receive a refund. I do understand that there are sometimes unavoidable situations so am happy to discuss any exceptional circumstances you may have. To cancel your place on a workshop, please provide me with a written notice via email; Unless I have acknowledged your request, you shouldn’t consider your request delivered! If I don’t respond within three working days, then please send a follow-up email or call me. Refunds will be made in the same way as the payment was made, ie. Payments paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card. Cancellations by Fabric Paper Scissors I am entitled to cancel any group or workshop at any time subject to the repayment of any deposit and fees received in respect of the booking which has been cancelled. In the unlikely event of a cancellation by myself or a guest tutor, I will provide a full refund within 5 days of the workshop date. My liability is only for the cost of the class. If the class is cancelled, you are liable for any costs incurred by you including materials purchased in advance, travel or accommodation.
