Dream Catcher-Free Motion & Quilting
Monday3rd October 10am-4pm
- 55 British pounds£55
Join Vendulka, Festival of Quilts Best in Show winner 2021, when she revisits the studio for another masterclass in modern quilting and embroidery. We will be making an absolutely stunning and unique Dream Catcher wall panel. It has the WOW factor for sure. There is quite a bit of work involved so you'll need to get ahead for the day by making a base for the Dream Catcher to be mounted to. The Base. So take your top fabric, wadding and backing, create a quilted sandwich and quilt as desired in a matching thread to your chosen fabric. It doesn’t really matter what sort of quilting you choose, traditional or free motion, just quilt the whole surface evenly - stippling or Vermicelli is fine, straight or wavy crossing lines with a walking foot is fine as well. It doesn't have to be complicated. Use thread which will blend in with your fabric choice, we want the quilting to be there but not stand out as we will be adding more stitching on top. You want a finished panel of approximately 50cm x 30cm (Portrait). You will need to bring this to this workshop. (You could join a Scissor Sister Workshop to complete this part) Requirements for the Base Fat quarter top fabric for the background ( rather plain-ish) 55 x 35 cm piece of wadding and backing Matching Thread Requirements for the Dreamcatcher Fat quarter of the contrasting fabric to wrap around the ring ( matching the colours of the organza) Ring for the dream catcher ( We sell 20cm ring for £3.50 or you can use willow sticks for a more natural look - has to be several of them woven together as the ring needs to be nice and strong) Yarns or Perle cotton or string for weaving the net Beads, real feathers, pendants etc. for decoration 50 cm square of organza for feathers Variegated thread matching the organza for stitching Usual sewing kit, scissors with a sharp point, pins, needles etc Sewing machine, Foot Pedal, Power Lead and Manual Walking or free motion quilting foot Embroidery hoop Refreshments are supplied but remember your lunch.
Cancellations & Refunds Bookings for the workshops are made months in advance, therefore it can be difficult for me to resell any places at short notice. Workshops require a great deal of planning, financial commitment, supplies and tools, as well as paying staff. As a result, cancellations can result in lost revenue. This will greatly impact on the business. Ideally, I don’t want either of us to be out of pocket. You can cancel your space on a workshop up to two weeks before it takes place. This two-week period allows me the necessary time to try and find someone to fill your place which I will endeavour to do through word of mouth and social media. If I can fill your space you will receive a full refund minus £5 admin fee, to deal with the process of issuing your refund and finding an alternative person to fill your space. However, please appreciate if I am unable to find someone to take your place, you will not receive a refund. I do understand that there are sometimes unavoidable situations so am happy to discuss any exceptional circumstances you may have. To cancel your place on a workshop, please provide me with a written notice via email; firstname.lastname@example.org. Unless I have acknowledged your request, you shouldn’t consider your request delivered! If I don’t respond within three working days, then please send a follow-up email or call me. Refunds will be made in the same way as the payment was made, ie. Payments paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card. Cancellations by Fabric Paper Scissors I am entitled to cancel any group or workshop at any time subject to the repayment of any deposit and fees received in respect of the booking which has been cancelled. In the unlikely event of a cancellation by myself or a guest tutor, I will provide a full refund within 5 days of the workshop date. My liability is only for the cost of the class. If the class is cancelled, you are liable for any costs incurred by you including materials purchased in advance, travel or accommodation.
