Create your own textile vessel/wrap using contemporary mixed media techniques including sculptural appliqué, machine embroidery and hand stitch. Emily Notman your tutor for this exciting mixed media workshop.Inspired by the beauty of weathered old walls, overgrown buildings and surfaces encrusted with paint, lichen or barnacles, Emily Notman’s focus is on texture. This tactile detail in her pieces is the key to her signature style. Layers of a variety of fabrics are coloured with paint and dye and combined with lace, wool, fabric and embellishments, including dainty buttons and tiny fabric flowers. Her exquisite masterpieces are finished with delicately-executed hand stitching in pleasing pastel tints. Looping threads, fabric petals and stitched flowers grow out of each piece, reminiscent of stunning floristry arrangements. Be inspired by a favourite landscape as you choose your composition, texture and colours. During the day you will experiment with creating bespoke texture, construction hand stitch, paint, ink and dyes to ensure each piece is unique. Finish with optional machine stitch, decorative hand embroidery and layers before constructing. Each vase will be able to wrap around a glass jar to house a candle or flowers. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations & Refunds Bookings for the workshops are made months in advance, therefore it can be difficult for me to resell any places at short notice. Workshops require a great deal of planning, financial commitment, supplies and tools, as well as paying staff. As a result, cancellations can result in lost revenue. This will greatly impact on the business. Ideally, I don’t want either of us to be out of pocket. You can cancel your space on a workshop up to two weeks before it takes place. This two-week period allows me the necessary time to try and find someone to fill your place which I will endeavour to do through word of mouth and social media. If I can fill your space you will receive a full refund minus £5 admin fee, to deal with the process of issuing your refund and finding an alternative person to fill your space. However, please appreciate if I am unable to find someone to take your place, you will not receive a refund. I do understand that there are sometimes unavoidable situations so am happy to discuss any exceptional circumstances you may have. To cancel your place on a workshop, please provide me with a written notice via email; jane@fabricpaperscissors.co.uk. Unless I have acknowledged your request, you shouldn’t consider your request delivered! If I don’t respond within three working days, then please send a follow-up email or call me. Refunds will be made in the same way as the payment was made, ie. Payments paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card. Cancellations by Fabric Paper Scissors I am entitled to cancel any group or workshop at any time subject to the repayment of any deposit and fees received in respect of the booking which has been cancelled. In the unlikely event of a cancellation by myself or a guest tutor, I will provide a full refund within 5 days of the workshop date. My liability is only for the cost of the class. If the class is cancelled, you are liable for any costs incurred by you including materials purchased in advance, travel or accommodation.
